Fri, 13 Nov 2009 13:45:02 H1N1 Vacinations Clinics http://www.luzerne.edu/news/readmore.jsp?story=67 The College is making every effort to make the H1N1 vaccine available to students and staff by volunteering to run a vaccination clinic at the main campus. An order has been placed with the PA Department of Health and College officials are waiting for the vaccine to be released. Nursing faculty and nursing students, as well as other volunteers, will help administer the vaccine once it is received. The clinic will be held at the Public Safety Training Institute (PSTI) located across South Prospect Street. Clinics have been tentatively scheduled for the following dates and times: November 23 and 24, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The clinic will be open on these dates for all students currently enrolled in any of our Health Science curricula and faculty of these curricula. This group is the most at-risk group and need the vaccines to complete their clinical requirements. The security department also is included in this group as they are the first responders on campus. December 1, 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.: These dates have been tentatively selected for students ages 24 years and younger, and for staff and students under 65 having underlying health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, suppressed immune systems, heart disease, kidney disease, and neurocognitive and neuromuscular disorders). A completed, signed consent form must be presented at the clinic in order to receive the vaccine. The consent form can be found on the Student Intranet under ?Document Space? and the Staff Intranet under ?College Forms.? PSTI staff will notify students and staff when the arrival of the vaccine and final dates for the clinics are confirmed. Watch the campus monitors and the College Intranet for announcements. In the meantime, the Department of Health will hold open clinics at various locations. Appointments are necessary at the open clinics and can be made at www.H1N1inPA.com under ?What?s Hot.? Individuals without Internet access can call 1-877-PA HEALTH (1-877-724-3258) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Anyone seeking vaccination should download an H1N1 vaccine consent form from www.H1N1inPA.com. Consent forms must be completed for each individual that is scheduled to be vaccinated. Preparing this form in advance will help the clinics more quickly register and vaccinate people.
