This two-day oil painting workshop is taught by the dynamic Judy Takacs, whose larger than life realistic portraits have captured national attention and acclaim. The workshop runs concurrently with Takacs' large scale figure painting series: Chicks with Balls, which exalts unsung female heroes. During lunch, and on breaks, workshop attendees can immerse themselves in Takacs' figurative portraits that capture the female form with personality and grace. Chicks with Balls will be on exhibition at the Schulman Gallery at Luzerne County Community College through December 9, 2014.

This unique workshop will teach gesture and expression of the nude human form using a live model, along with focusing on the portrait aspect of figure painting. Demonstrating the ways in which she achieves the painterly realism of her portraits and figures, Takacs' workshops have generous doses of "how to" as well as "why to". Attendees will also benefit from Judy's unique motivational tips, termed "Judyisms". Judy's teaching style is highly personal, and, for those who seek this energetic and caring instructor, she continues to be a helpful friend and resource even after the class is over. Post-workshop, Judy continues many of the friendships she has made with attendees through Facebook.

In order to receive the most benefit and enjoyment from the workshop, it is strongly recommended that artists interested in attending have a strong foundation in drawing, have experience oil painting, and are not offended by the nude human form and are comfortable painting it.
