| PROGRAM PURPOSE
- Provide participants with career development services
- Assist in preparation for occupational training programs
- Program goals are empowerment and promoting self-sufficiency
PROGRAM HISTORY
- Prior to the mid-nineties two separate programs existed in Pennsylvania--One for SP/DH one for Equity
- Programs were merged and renamed New Choices/New Options
- Funding is provided by the Pennsylvania Dept. of Education
- Currently there are 24 projects in PA
WHO QUALIFIES?
- Single parents (full or joint custody)
- Displaced homemakers
- Persons interested in exploring non-traditional programs
- Non-traditional programs are defined as those where more than 75% of the statewide enrollments are of one gender

- Career Assessment
- Career Planning
- Referral Services
- Academic Support
- Job Search Skills
- Job Placement Assistance
- Tuition Assistance
- Other Financial needs met on an individual basis
**All services are free of charge to program participants**
Workshop Training
- Participants must complete 60 hours of training on a variety of topics
- Workshops are offered each semester on Tuesday mornings (9:30 to noon) and Thursday evenings (5:30 to 8:00)
- Each workshop cycle is 15 weeks (Sept. to Dec. and Jan. to May)
