Position Title: Head Coach - Baseball

Position Classification: Adjunct Faculty

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  1. Experience - Demonstrated Baseball coaching experience; excellent interpersonal, teaching and communication skills are essential; ability to recruit student athletes, develop successful programs and maintain operations; baseball coaching experience at the intercollegiate level preferred; demonstrate evidence of ability to work well with student-athletes and proven ability to perform administrative aspects of the program; knowledge of NJCAA Division III rules preferred.

    Position Responsibilities:

    The head coach is the individual charged with the responsibility for planning, managing, coordinating, and implementing the duties and functions of the individual sports program in collaboration with the Director of Student Life and Athletics. The head coach works closely with all others involved in the department, College, EPAC, Region 19 and NJCAA in carrying out the mission and objectives of the sport as part of the intercollegiate athletic program. 1.Adhere to applicable federal, state and institutional policies. 2.Administering all aspects of the team programming including recruiting, promoting, coaching, requisitioning and maintaining equipment and uniforms, in accordance with all institutional policies and procedures. Actively recruit student athletes within LCCC and from Luzerne County. 3.Plans and directs athletic skill development for student-athletes, including teaching fundamentals, rules of sport. Provide instruction and training necessary to create skills, techniques, and physical conditioning sufficient to enable each participant to compete safely and competently. 4.Reports team results to the Director of Student Life and Athletics immediately following each game. 5.Ensure that all players are respectful and display good sportsmanship when representing the College. Represents the College on the highest professional level with dignity, integrity, and strength of character. 6.Maintains knowledge EPAC, Region 19 and NJCAA policies and procedures. 7.In coordination with the Director of Student Life and Athletics, monitor student athlete academic performance and implement measures to support athletes successful academic performance 8.In coordination with the Director of Student Life and Athletics when schedule use of facilities, and keeps the Director informed of the condition of equipment and facilities. Reviews the safety of all facilities and environments whether home or away for all athletes, coaches and other team personnel. 9.Attends all team practices, home and away games and travels with the team during all school related functions in College provided transportation. 10.Supports department with issuing, maintaining, collecting and storing of team uniforms and equipment. 11.Maintains regular communication with the Director of Student Life and Athletics during season and off season regarding practice, game, and travel arrangements, schedule changes, players and other issues that may arise. 12.Reports all injuries to Athletic Trainer and Director of Student Life and Athletics immediately. 13.Attend all required EPAC and Region 19 meetings. 14.Perform other related duties as assigned.
