Position Title: PT Seasonal Bookstore Clerk

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  1. Education - High School Graduate

  2. Experience - One (1) year appropriate work experience preferably in the field of sales; keyboarding and data entry skills

  3. Skills - Knowledge in the use of computers; communications skills both oral and written

    Position Responsibilities:

    Responsible for all aspects of shipping, receiving and special orders for the bookstore; responsible for returns of damaged textbooks and verifying counts of books received; operates the point of sale cash registers, verifies reports and cash totals according to established procedures; track items not received; responsible for off campus process, sales and bookstore events; assists the secretary in answering phone calls and other office responsibilities; receive and process telephone or on-line orders for textbook mailings; arrange store displays and merchandise; stock shelves, become familiar with merchandise and displays and make suggestions; assist during buyback; prepares bookstore inventory through computer application; prepares deposit slips for daily sales; enter charge-backs on software system for returns and inventory control, use system for shipping and receiving; have direct contact with FedEx, UPS and various trucking firms; assist with end of day and end of month closings; obtain information through computer application; assist with the distribution of commencement caps and gowns; maintains bookstore in an orderly and clean condition; maintain contact with publishing companies concerning return policies and maintain up to date information; process student's financial aid transactions at the point of sale registers following rules and regulations according to the College policy and procedures; opens and closes store through computer application; places confection orders when needed; order, receive, and enter merchandise and supplies for sale into bookstore computer system; prepares requisitions and purchase orders according to established procedures; uses bookstore computer system to update course materials and price changes; store supplies and equipment in designated areas; assists with processing course material adoption; employee awards organization and gift wrapping of employee awards and other gifts.

    Entry Salary: $9.15/hr

    Standard Work Week: 19 hours
