Position Title: FT Temporary Emergency Counselor of Accessibilities Services (Grant Funded until June 30, 2020)

Position Classification: Full-Time Twelve (12) Month Faculty

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Academic Rank: Instructor

  1. Education - Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or a related field is required; Bachelor's Degree in Special Education is preferred.

  2. Experience - Three (3) years experience working with students requiring special accommodations including recommending appropriate accommodations based on student provided documentation is preferred; counseling and academic advising experience is preferred.

  3. Skills - Knowledgeable in working with adaptive technologies (i.e Zoom text extra level Z, Dragon Naturally Speaking and Kurzwell 3000); strong communication skills and ability to troubleshoot on behalf of the student; computer literacy with Microsoft office and databases; understanding and knowledge of psychological reports \for interpretation; knowledge of laws governing students with disabilities for post-secondary education knowledge of counseling theories and techniques.

    Position Responsibilities:

    Perform all counselor duties described in the Faculty Collective bargaining Agreement; reviews student's submitted documentation to validate evidence of disability and functional limitations to determine appropriate accommodations; network with Intermediate Unit and other related agencies to explain services to prospective students and parents; provides counseling and advisement to special needs students, along with an assigned curriculum responsibility; accesses and communicates with the Administrator in charge of the ACT101 and Disability budget; assists with ACT101 reports and or other related grant funded programs; serves as a liaison between students and faculty to ensure students are receiving accommodations; maintain confidential student files that include disability documentation, accommodations and case notes; researches, monitors and recommends updates to assistive technology and appropriate accommodation needs; provides dedicated center students support, from the Main Campus; visits to dedicated centers no more than once per semester; available to work two evenings per week; performs such other reasonable duties related to the foregoing as may be assigned by the Director of Counseling and Student Support Services or administrative designee; the above duties are charged to the Perkins grant when services are delivered to Career Technical Education (CTE) students.

    Entry Salary: $44,079.00/annual

    Standard Work Week: 35 hours
