The Luzerne County Community College Alumni Association will hold a Giving Day in observance of the College's opening on October 2, 1967.

Donations for Giving Day will benefit the LCCC student scholarship program. For those who would like to contribute to the College, donations can be sent to the LCCC Alumni Office, 1333 South Prospect Street, Nanticoke, PA 18634 or call the Alumni Office at 570-740-0735.

Luzerne County Community College will offer courses for the fall semester in Wilkes-Barre. Students can register for courses in Wilkes-Barre at the College's Wilkes-Barre Center at 2 Public Square.

Courses scheduled to be offered in Wilkes-Barre include Accounting, Art Appreciation, Biology, Business, Computer Literacy, English, Reading, and History. Also, CPR, Criminal Justice, English as a Second Language (ESL), First Year Experience, Legal Assisting, Math, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish, Speech, and others.

Both day and evening classes are offered at the College's Wilkes-Barre Center.

Classes for the fall semester will begin in Wilkes-Barre on Monday, September 14.

Luzerne County Community College will hold a late start fall semester offering several in-person and online courses beginning Monday, September 14.

Courses scheduled to be offered during the late start semester include Biology, Business, Computer Literacy, Criminal Justice, English, First Year Experience, History, Legal Assisting, Math, Psychology, Reading, and Sociology. Also, Accounting, Art, Chemistry, Emergency Medical Services, English as a Second Language (ESL), Spanish, and Speech.

The Luzerne County Community College Foundation, Inc. will hold its 28th annual scholarship celebration on Wednesday, October 21, at 6 p.m. The event will be held virtually and can be viewed at www.luzerne.edu.

Each year, the annual scholarship event raises funds to support student scholarships and other student initiatives. The LCCC Foundation awards more than 300 scholarships to LCCC students annually.

"While the decision to hold our annual foundation dinner virtually this year was difficult, the celebration promises to be a wonderful tribute to our students, donors, and community sponsors," says Rebecca Brominski, executive director, LCCC Foundation Inc.

The LCCC Writing Center ("The Write Place") in College Hall, Room 903 will be open for the fall semester starting Monday, September 14. The current hours of operation are Mondays, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Wednesdays, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students can also make submissions online by emailing writingcenter@luzerne.edu. Students should include their name, student ID number, class, and due date in the subject, and attach their writing and the assignment rubric as an attachment to the email. Please expect a 48-hour window for a return.

Campus Candids - LCCC and Wilkes Expand Program and Scholarship Opportunities

Luzerne County Community College and Wilkes University have expanded a dual admission agreement between the two institutions which guarantees admission to Wilkes for community college students and offers more opportunities for them to earn scholarships at the university. The agreement was signed by Wilkes President Greg Cant and LCCC President Thomas P. Leary recently at Wilkes University.
