Business Club Workshop on Networking Feb 19

The Business Club will hold a workshop on networking on Tuesday, February 19,

from 11 a.m. to noon, at the Business and Information Sciences Center, Room 722. Topics to be covered include: how do business professionals network? what it is really all about? how do you get started? how can you overcome the fear of approaching someone you don't know? Classes End for the First Seven-Week Session for the spring semester on Thursday, February 28.

Display of Love Art Exhibit

The LCCC Schulman Gallery is currently holding an art exhibit featuring the work of LCCC students, guest artists, and Jim Gavenus, associate professor of Communication Arts. "Display of Love," a community art project focusing on the themes of love, diversity, peace and non-violence, is comprised of mixed media pieces. The exhibit is an opportunity for artists locally and from around the world to come together as a unified force against hate and violence. It is as diversified as our communities and includes photographs, paintings, poems, music, tin art, children's art, and more. The exhibit opened on Wednesday, February 6 and will be on display through Thursday, February 28. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Diversity Film Feb 19

The LCCC Diversity Council will hold a film screening on Tuesday, February 19, from 11 a.m. to 12:15p.m., at the College's Campus Center. "I Am Not Your Negro" features the unfinished manuscript of James Baldwin. Filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book Baldwin never finished titled "Remember This House." The book was to be a revolutionary, personal account of the lives and assassinations of three of his close friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr. At the time of his death in 1987, Baldwin left behind only 30 completed pages.

ECE Guest Speakers Feb 18

Guest speakers from the field of Early Childhood Education will address the topic "Job and Advocacy Opportunities in Early Childhood Education" on Monday, February 18, at 2:30 p.m., at Founders Hall, Room 301.

Name the Clothing Closet Poster Contest

The LCCC BASIC Club is holding a poster contest to name the newly-established clothing closet. Create a clothing closet poster proposing a name for the clothing closet. The size of the poster is to be 11 x 17. Submissions are due by Friday, February 22 and can be dropped off at the College Relations Office at the Campus Center, across from Room 213. The posters will be available for viewing from Monday, February 25 through Monday, March 4, in the Business and Information Sciences Center where the clothing closet is located. Vote for your favorite poster. The winner will be announced at the BASIC Club meeting on Tuesday, March 12. The winning poster will be displayed on campus and the poster's creator will receive a $25 prize. Recover C meetings

If you are in recovery, support someone in recovery, or support a recovery lifestyle, please join us for support meetings. Spring 2019 semester open meetings will take place on campus every Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 5:45 p.m., at Building 9, Room 918 through April 30.

Registration for Summer 2019, Fall 2019, and Intersession 2020 Classes

Registration for Summer 2019, Fall 2019, and Intersession 2020 classes begins on Monday, February 25.

Spring Non-Credit Cooking Classes

Luzerne County Community College will offer several non-credit cooking classes this spring at the College's Joseph A. Paglianite Culinary Institute in downtown Nanticoke.

"The Art of Pizza and Stromboli" will teach students how to prepare pizza and stromboli and will cover making dough as well as sauces and cheeses. The two-session course will be held on Saturday, March 2 and Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"Big and Little Chef Class" is a workshop for adults and children designed to help bring children into the kitchen for a fun and healthy experience. The two-session course will be held on Saturday, March 16 and Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"German Cooking" will showcase the art of German cooking including creating specialties and variations of different dishes. The two-session course will be held on Saturday, April 6 and Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"Sweet and Savory Pies and Pastries" will teach the secrets of baking pastries and pies including desserts, meat filled pasties, and pot pies. The two-session course will be held on Saturday, April 27 and Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"Dumplings of the World" will provide instruction on how to make dumplings from a variety of cultures. The two-session course will be held on Saturday, May 11 and Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Spring Open House Mar 23

Luzerne County Community College will hold a Spring Open House on Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the College's Campus Center.

Information on programs of study, financial aid, student activities and athletics, transfer and dual admission agreements, health sciences admission, English as a Second Language (ESL), career exploration, and student services will be available and tours of the campus will be given. A complimentary breakfast will be served at the College's Cafeteria from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

Wellness Committee Health Fair Mar 19

The Luzerne County Community College Wellness Committee will hold its sixth annual wellness fair on Tuesday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the College's Campus Center Cafeteria. Snow date is Tuesday, March 26.

The event is free and open to the public. The fair will include College departments and community organizations which will provide information and demonstrations.
