Luzerne County Community College will hold its 51st annual Commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 23, at 6 p.m., at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Jeff Cox will be this year's Commencement speaker.
Cox is the finance editor for CNBC.com, where he manages news coverage of the financial markets and Wall Street. He is a frequent guest on CNBC and his articles have appeared on the websites for USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, Yahoo Finance, and other CNBC partners. Prior to joining CNBC in 2007, he worked at CNNMoney where he wrote extensively on alternative energy, technology, and banking.
Having begun his journalism career in 1987, Cox has covered a wide range of news stories including the collapse of the financial system, presidential politics, and local government. He spent 18 years working in print journalism, including nine years in senior editing positions.
He is co-author of the books Debt, Deficits and the Demise of the American Economy and The 30-Minute Millionaire. He has received multiple awards during his career including from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers as well as newspaper associations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association cited Cox twice for commentary, including a series of columns he wrote after the September 11th terrorist attacks. Additionally, Cox spoke at Columbia University about his award-winning series on the cost of education which was honored by the New Jersey Press Association for public service journalism.
Cox is a graduate of Bloomsburg University and lives in Pennsylvania along the Delaware River with his wife, Mary Ellen.
