Remember when WARM-AM (The Mighty 590) was the dominate radio station in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Listeners enjoyed the music, news reports, and personalities like no other media outlet.
The decline of the AM radio dial, and WARM radio, were mirrored. The powerhouse of community involvement by this AM radio was slowly chipped away by new media rules and competition by many new communication competitors.
Luzerne County Community College student, Jill Bodek, interviewed six local radio individuals with a combined media experience of 250 years. Joe Middleton , Vince Kearney, Billy Kelly, David DeCosmo, Erica Funke and David Yonki share their perspective on the decline of local listener impact reflected through WARM in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
This program won the 2013 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System National Radio Award for Best Documentary
