Walk of Honor
Who belongs on the Luzerne County Community College Walk of Honor?
You Do! And so do your colleagues, family and friends. Purchase a brick with your name and year of graduation; in honor of the memory of a loved one; or to commemorate your favorite faculty member. Area business and industry, fire departments, ambulance companies, police departments and their families and friends are encouraged to dedicate a brick to honor our every day heroes.
The Walk of Honor is located on the site of the Regional Public Safety Training Center near the College's Prospect Street entrance. The Public Safety Training Institute's mission is to train first responders throughout northeastern Pennsylvania in all aspects of emergency support and protection. The Walk of Honor began as an idea by Mrs. Phyllis Carlo, of Wanamie, to honor her son, Michael Scott Carlo, a NYFD firefighter who lost his life saving others on September 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center. Less than a decade later this site has been established on the LCCC campus to honor all our heroes who have touched our lives.

- Bricks: Available in three sizes and can be engraved with 3 or 6 lines per brick depending on size ordered. Each line can fit 14 characters, including spaces and punctuation. Bricks will be ordered in lots of 25 and will be randomly placed annually. When your brick is placed, you will be contacted via mail, to inform you of the location of the brick.
- Plaques: 12" x12" bronze plaques are available for engraving and placement on the brick walls within the Walk of Honor. There are walls within the site dedicated to "Fallen Heroes" which includes first responders who died in the line of duty; living and deceased first responders; and alumni, friends and family.
- Benches: The benches located on the site can be sponsored in memory or honor of a loved one or whatever sentiment you would like. An engraved plaque will be placed on the bench with your special message. The plaque can accommodate 3 lines with a 22 characters per line. Benches are made of sturdy weather proof, HDPE recycled composite board.
Your support will serve as a lasting permanent legacy at LCCC. Proceeds from the brick purchases will support local training programs and the perpetuity of the project. By investing in this project you will forever be part of both LCCC's history and its future.
