Luzerne County Community College President John Yudichak Honored with Distinguished Community Service Award

Luzerne County Community College President John Yudichak was recognized Wednesday evening, October 22, at the Northeast Sight Services Annual Awards Dinner, held at The Woodlands, as the recipient of the Distinguished Community Service Award.*

Sponsored by New Era Eye Care and presented by Dr. Brian O'Donnell, the Distinguished Community Service Award is given each year to a community leader whose life, values, and generosity in service to others reflect an exceptional commitment to the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

This year's honoree, President Yudichak, was celebrated for his decades of leadership, service, and advocacy on behalf of the region he calls home.

A lifelong advocate for the people of Pennsylvania, Yudichak served for more than two decades in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, including as a State Senator representing Carbon and Luzerne Counties. Known for his pragmatic, people-first approach, Yudichak worked across the aisle to deliver results that strengthened communities, created jobs, and expanded educational and economic opportunities across the Commonwealth.

"John has dedicated his life to building stronger communities," said Dr. Brian O'Donnell, of New Era Eye Care, who presented the award. "His leadership and compassion have made a lasting difference throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, and we are proud to recognize his service and commitment to others."

Since joining Luzerne County Community College as President, Yudichak has continued his lifelong mission of public service?focused on expanding access to education, empowering students, and strengthening partnerships that drive opportunity and growth in the region.

"It's truly humbling to be recognized by an organization like Northeast Sight Services, whose mission reflects the best of what Northeastern Pennsylvania stands for?compassion, service, and community," said President Yudichak. "This honor belongs to all the people I've had the privilege to work alongside in serving our region and helping others realize their full potential."

The Northeast Sight Services Annual Awards Dinner brings together community leaders, advocates, and supporters to celebrate individuals and organizations making a meaningful impact on the lives of others across Northeastern Pennsylvania.
