Expanded Functions Dental Assisting
Diploma program

LCCC offers a diploma program for dental assistants called Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. The mission of the LCCC Expanded Functions Dental Assisting Program is to prepare students to acquire the academic and practical knowledge for a specialty in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting (EFDA). EFDAs can perform all the duties of a dental assistant - and more such as applying sealants, taking impressions, performing coronal polishing, applying topical anesthetic or applying topical fluoride, and placing amalgam and composite resin restorations. EFDAs must be skilled multitaskers because they are responsible for so many duties. Because of their advanced standing, EFDAs often earn higher salaries.
