* Notice *
As you are well aware, Governor Rendell and the Legislature have yet to pass a budget for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. There have been many stories, rumors, and concerns about the fate of the Pennsylvania State Grant Program and the affect it will have on our students.
When the awards are made by Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency they are given conditional amount for Fall Term, and assured amount for Spring. The difference between the amounts is based on the budget request made by PHEAA’s Board, and prior year appropriation. At this time, the awards are pending and a preliminary credit to the student’s tuition. Once the budget has been passed, if amounts change, they will be adjusted accordingly.
The lack of a budget does not allow us to refund excess funds from PHEAA Grants. However, this does not normally occur until the end of October, at which time we would hope a budget will be in place. This has NO effect on the Federal Aid (PELL/SEOG/STAFFORD) students have been awarded.

In the interest of better service to the student, the Financial Aid Office will begin to process Financial Aid Awards in June and will send them electronically to the L.C.C.C. student e-mail addresses.
If you do not have a school email account, you can setup the account via this site: http://www.luzerne.edu/distanceeducation/create.jsp
This process is only for returning students. We will not be able to send to personal e-mail addresses, so please complete the above before finals so you will receive your Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Award Letter as soon as possible.
