The Luzerne County Community College Health, Physical Education and Exercise Science Department will hold its annual Race for a Cause 5K Run/Fun Walk and Children's Run on Saturday, April 21, at the College's campus in Nanticoke.
Participants can register in advance or on the day of the race. Race day registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the James T. Atherton Gymnasium. The children's run will begin at 9 a.m. and the 5K Run/Fun Walk begins at 9:30 a.m.
The first 100 registered adults will receive a free t-shirt. Participants are asked to bring a donation of a healthy food item for the LCCC Peter J. Lello Student Food Pantry. Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities.
Registration fee is $15 per adult and $5 for children. Awards will be given to the first overall male and female in the 5K Run. Awards also will be given to the top three finishers in the following age groups for both males and females in the 5K Run: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. A ¼ mile run will be held for ages five and under and a ½ mile run will be held for ages six to 10.
