The Luzerne County Community College Alumni Association will hold the 22nd annual Flea Market and Collectibles Show on Saturday, August 1, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the College's Educational Conference Center parking lot.

The flea market will consist of collectibles, flea market items, crafts, direct sales vendors, and food vendors. The event also will feature a Hi-Lites Motor Club car cruise from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

The event is free and open to the public. Proceeds benefit Alumni Association student programs.

Luzerne County Community College will hold a four-week second summer session offering both online and on-campus courses beginning Monday, July 13 through Tuesday, August 11. Final exams will be held on Wednesday, August 12.

Courses scheduled to be offered include Accounting, Art Appreciation, Biology, Business, Computer Information Systems, English, Spanish, Speech, History, Math, Science, Psychology, and Sociology. Also, Early Childhood Education, Economics, Emergency Medical Services, English as a Second Language (ESL), Health Sciences, Music Appreciation, Nursing, Philosophy, Political Science, and others.

The LCCC Student Life and Alumni offices are partnering to collect Gowns4Good. This initiative is protecting healthcare workers by upcycling graduation gowns. Whether your graduation gown is collecting dust in the back of your closet or is no longer needed from a recent commencement, you can protect a healthcare worker by donating a graduation gown today. If you would like to support this project, you may submit your gowns either way:

Drop off your gown(s) in the collection box located on our Nanticoke campus in the vestibule of the campus security office. The drop off box hours are 9am to 3pm Tuesdays - Saturdays. We ask that you wear a face mask while on campus.

Please note all donated gowns must be cleaned and in good condition and wrapped individually in a plastic bag (such as a large gallon storage bag).

LCCC will hold an online Student Art Exhibit at the College's Schulman Gallery webpage featuring the work of students in the LCCC Communication Arts program. Luzerne County Community College will offer several camps for children this summer.

"Kids' Culinary Camp" will provide participants with hands-on culinary experience through measurement skills, reading and creating recipes, and meal preparation. Parents will join on the final day for a special culinary treat. The camp is open to 12 to 14 year-old children and will be held from Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"Conceptual Design: Computer Generated Imagery Camp" will allow children to work with virtual environments, texture mapping, and special effects. Campers will utilize basic 2D/3D elements such as digital painting, textures, lighting, mood/tone, staging scenes, environments, and storyboards to create virtual scenes for projects such as animated films and video games. The camp will be held from Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Two sections of "Lego? Robotics Camp" will be held. Campers will participate by demonstrating the projects they build. Topics include building robots with Legos?, programming basic robotic commands, using gears to reduce or increase torque, and combining building and programming skills to craft a robot that is able to navigate a maze. The camps will be held from Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 17, for 9 to 11 year-old children and from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, for 12 to 14 year-old children. Both camps will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.

"Visual Arts Camp" explores color, texture, pattern, and composition while experimenting with graphite pencils, colored pencils, and markers. The camp will be held from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"Video Production Camp" will teach children about directing, cameras, lighting, audio, building sets, writing storyboards, and being an on-air host. The camp will be held from Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Campus Candids - Spring Spirit Week Activities

The LCCC SGA celebrated Spring Spirit Week 2020 earlier this year. Spirit Week featured Poor Man's Gambit performing live Irish music, Shamrock Crafts, and a free ice cream social.
