Classes begin for the Winter Intersession on Monday, December 19.

Classes End for the Fall Semester on Friday, December 9.

Once again this year, the criminal justice program will be assisting women and children who will be in an emergency shelter through the holidays. Donations of toys (infants to teens), blankets, toiletries, and pajamas are requested. Donations can be dropped off at Founders Hall, Room 319D until Friday, December 9, at noon. Gift cards to local supermarkets and department stores are also welcome.

Head Start Holiday Collection: The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Literacy Committee invites you to share in the magic of the holiday season with the children from the Head Start Program by "adopting" a child for whom to purchase holiday presents. Faculty, staff, and student clubs can sponsor a child as an individual or a group. Each child's name is posted in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department in Building 3, Room 319. An ornament is posted with the name, age, and wish list for each child. Please notify Sue Conti, Janis Wilson Seeley, or Karen Amesbury when you select a child. You can also call or email Sue Conti, Janis Seeley, or Karen Amesbury for the name of a child.

Please choose your child no later than November 16 and return gifts by December 5 to the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, Room 319.

The Holiday Door Decorating Contest will begin on Tuesday, November 15 and the final day for submissions is Monday, December 5. If your department would like to participate, decorate your door and submit a photo by Monday December 5. There are three ways to submit your photos: Take your own door photo and email it to - be sure to include your department name and a contact name/number; Take your own door photo and text it to - be sure to include your department name and a contact name/number; or contact Mark James to take the door photo which he will forward. Once all photos are received, a link will be provided to view and vote on the favorite doors starting on Thursday, December 1. All votes must be in by Wednesday, December 7. The door winners will be announced at the Staff Tidings and Tinsel Holiday Gathering on Thursday, December 8. Everyone who votes will be automatically entered into a random drawing for a holiday prize.

Luzerne County Community College will hold a new art exhibit, "I In the Storm" beginning Friday, November 4 through Friday, December 16, at the College's Schulman Gallery.

The exhibit will feature large, colorful artworks by Leigh Pawling in a variety of media. Pawling's art deeply explores the process and materials utilized in creating pieces. The subject matter is enmeshed in a world of color, energy, mark making, numbers, and words.

The exhibit will open with a reception on Friday, November 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the College's Schulman Gallery. The opening reception is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special hours will be held on Saturday, November 5, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The LCCC Wellness Committee has partnered again this year with OneMi22ion Salute, a local group which collects new warm socks for local veterans. Collection boxes are located around campus to collect socks or you can drop them off at the Fitness Center Desk, College Relations Office, Francis S. and Mary Gill Carrozza, R.N. Health Science Center, Joseph A. Paglianite Culinary Institute, and at some of the College's centers. Also, you can make a monetary donation directly to the group. The Student Life Office will hold a movie series on Fridays in December. Friday, December 2: "Star Trek Beyond" - 11 a.m.- Campus Center, second floor

Campus Candids - Annual Craft Festival and Car Cruise Held

The LCCC Alumni Association held the 33rd annual Fall Craft Festival at the College's campus. This year's craft show featured nearly 125 artisans from around the region selling hand-made items. The festival also included raffles, a basket auction, and children's activities. Free health screenings were provided by LCCC Respiratory Therapy students and the LCCC Horticulture Club held a plant sale. The HiLites Motor Club held a car cruise and trunk or treat.
