2011 - 2015 Diversity Plan
Responsibility for Implementation:
Vice President of Academic Affairs has ultimate authority for implementation of this plan and has chosen to delegate key implementation roles to the Diversity Coordinator and the Diversity Council.
Diversity Coordinator will work with the Diversity Council to:
- promote and advocate diversity within the college;
- review and update the diversity plan, and any related college policies annually; submit plan changes and report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs by August 1 of each year;
- provide reasonable and realistic recommendations for areas of the college where disparity exists in the workplace, academic affairs and/or student development, when applicable;
- provide and implement, or co-sponsor diversity programming for the college community, maintaining the standards for designating a program as appropriate for diversity (the college will provide continued membership within the Northeastern PA Diversity Education Consortium);
Strategic Goal #8: Culture and Diversity
2011-2012 Goal#1:
Develop and implement a website for Diversity to establish one centralized area where Diversity Resources can be accessed easily by faculty, staff, students and the community.
2011-2012 Goal#2:
Develop student leadership program in conjunction with Student Life. Ensure that the leadership program includes a component with Diversity Training.
2012-2013 Goal#1:
Implement the procedure to request funds for Diversity-related events. Budget Increase of $500.00 required.
2012-2013 Goal#2:
Develop a web calendar for Diversity Events and develop a process and qualifications standards for adding Diversity Events to the calendar.
2012-2013 Goal#3:
Create a policy, "Attendance at Diversity Events for current Staff and Faculty".
2012-2013 Goal#4:
Work with FYE Coordinator to incorporate requirements within the FYE course, "Attendance at Diversity events for Students".
2013-2014 Goal#1:
Implement the, "Attendance at Diversity Events for current Staff and Faculty" and "Attendance at Diversity events for Students" policies.
2013-2014 Goal#2:
Develop and implement an annual survey which surveys the campus climate for both employees and students.
2013-2014 Goal#3:
Review results of Diversity Questions from Survey and increase student diversity awareness by 5%.
2014-2015 Goal#1:
Increase # of events listed in Diversity Calendar by 10% from start-up year.
2014-2015 Goal #2:
Increase # of requests for funds by 10%. Budget increase will be required, amount to be determined.
