Position Title: FT Instructor/ Assistant Professor of Culinary Arts

Position Classification: Full-Time Nine (9) Month Faculty

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Academic Rank: Instructor

  1. Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts or related field from an accredited institution; Current ServSafe certification.

  2. Experience - Minimum of five years of industry experience as a chef, with at least two years in a supervisory or management role.

  3. Skills - Demonstrated knowledge of diverse cuisines, cooking techniques, and industry best practices; Excellent communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills; Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other instructional technologies; Strong commitment to student success and the community college mission.

Academic Rank: Assistant Professor

  1. Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts or related field from an accredited institution; Current ServSafe certification.

  2. Experience - Minimum of five years of industry experience as a chef, with at least two years in a supervisory or management role; 3 years of teaching experience.

  3. Skills - Demonstrated knowledge of diverse cuisines, cooking techniques, and industry best practices; Excellent communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills; Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other instructional technologies; Strong commitment to student success and the community college mission.

Position Responsibilities:

Teach assigned Culinary Arts credit and non-credit courses, including practical cooking techniques, kitchen management, food safety, and advanced culinary disciplines; Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and course materials which include hands-on demonstrations and individualized instruction to students in a kitchen and classroom setting; Assess credit student performance through practical exams, assignments, and evaluations, providing constructive feedback for improvement; Ensure proper safety and sanitation practices are maintained in the kitchen and classrooms, adhering to ServSafe standards; Maintain accurate student grade and attendance records, adhering to college policies and procedures; Collaborate with other faculty and department staff on curriculum development and assessment activities; Stay current with culinary trends, techniques, and industry advancements through professional development activities; Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and college service initiatives.

Entry Salary: Instructor - $40,147/Assistant Professor - $43,807

Standard Work Week: 35 hours
