Position Title: FT Science Technical Services Technician

Position Classification: Full-Time Classified

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  1. Education - Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  2. Experience - Three (3) years appropriate work experience in both physical and biological science laboratories

  3. Skills - Knowledge of both physical and biological science lab operations and equipment; communication skills both oral and written; knowledge in the use of computers

    Position Responsibilities:

    Maintains and sets up biology, chemistry, and physics labs, equipment, chemicals, periodic inventory which includes secondary labeling, and orders supplies for the department in conjunction with the department chair; assists students in proper use of equipment in labs; assists in scheduling and overseeing open lab hours; prepares chemical solutions and runs distillation apparatus to provide distilled water for all labs; prepares media; assists in preparation of stock and student microbiology cultures in conjunction with the department chair; assists the department chair in evaluating microscopes, Mettler balances, pH meters, gas chromatograh, and other lab equipment for professional maintenance; prepares all waste in labs to include biohazard for disposal on a regular basis; responsible for ensuring all lab materials are properly stored on a weekly basis; assists the department chair in annual inventory of supplies; assists department chair in various on demand requests regarding budget expenditures and other situations regarding laboratory procedures and/or facilities; maintains and checks safety equipment in all labs.

    Entry Salary: $24,190.00/annual

    Standard Work Week: 35 hours
