The LCCC 2025 Communication Arts Student Art Exhibition will be presented in the Schulman Gallery of Luzerne County Community College and will run from Friday, May 09, 2025 through Friday, June 06, 2025. The Exhibition highlights original artworks in a variety of media and categories created by students currently enrolled in the Communication Arts Program of Luzerne County Community College.
The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, May 09, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. which will include live piano music and light fare, and feature portfolio presentations and the presentation of Presidentâ??s Choice Awards in the Gallery.
Admission is free and open to the public.

May is National Stroke Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the symptoms and risk factors of stroke. While stroke is the fifth leading cause of death, few people know the signs. Use the acronym BE FAST to remember the signs of stroke, and what to do if someone near you is experiencing them.
The BE FAST acronym:
This acronym is a helpful tool for remembering the signs of a stroke: Balance, Eyes, Face, Arm, Speech, and Time to call 911

The LCCC History Club invites you to join us Thursday, May 8 @ 12:30pm in Room #917 for the final World War II lecture of the SP-25 Semester. This lecture discusses the final battles in the Pacific Theater which culminated in the brutal struggle for Okinawa, from April to June 1945.
Starting today, we are resetting everyone's PIN for their library account to a default that will match the last four digits of your LCCC ID number. If you have already reset your PIN, you will need to use the new default to reset the PIN to something else. This change WILL NOT EFFECT any other password or account you have with LCCC, just the account associated with your library card. The members of the LCCC Alumni Association are excited to host our 27th annual Flea Market & Collectibles Show on Saturday, June 14, 2025 (rain date 6/15/25). The show will run from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Educational Conference Center (ECC) parking lot. The Hi Lites Motor Club will join us for a car cruise from 10am-1pm (weather dependent).
50/50 raffle tickets are now available and the pot is currently over $300 in prizes.
Keep us in mind while doing your spring cleaning we are accepting donations of household items, books, collectibles and more for our Alumni table.
In addition, we will have a theme basket auction - if you are able to donate a basket or a gift card, we would greatly appreciate it! This basket can also be used for the Graduate Reception on May 27th. Please contact me for more information.

Summer season of Esports is right around the corner! If you have some time opening up around 5pm-8pm this summer we are looking to fill teams for all games! Come talk to Kyle Davis in the Student Life and Athletics Office for details and the game schedule. (Student life and athletics is located on the 3rd floor of the campus center (building 14))
No try outs or skill level required. just have an account with the game you are looking to play and have the availability to play on the set dates.
Summer season starts May 26 and goes till July 31st with open enrollment through the season.

May is recognized as Menstrual Health Awareness Month. This month aims to raise awareness about menstrual health, hygiene, and the challenges faced by those who menstruate, particularly regarding access to products and managing periods without stigma. Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed on May 28th, is key part of this awareness.
The Wellness Committee will be collecting period products during the month of May. All items will benefit our students. Monetary donations can be made to LCCC Foundation
The revised walk - in registration hours (HRM, PAS, CUL) are Friday, May 9th are from 9:00 to 11:00 at the Health Science Center.
The last day to take the Student Needs Survey is May 8, 2025. Please check your student email and text messages for the link to complete the survey. After completing the survey you can choose to be entered to win an LCCC Gift basket which includes a backpack, t-shirt, tumbler and more! Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and provide valuable information to Luzerne County Community College.

A walk in registration will be held for current Culinary, Pastry, and Hospitality students on Friday, May 9th from 9:00 AM to noon and 2:00 PM to 3:00 at the Health Science Building. Please call to RSVP at 570-740-0461.
The 11th Annual Alumni Golf Tournament is set for Monday, May 19 at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club, Mountain Top.
The fee to golf is $125/player and includes lunch and refreshments, Swag Bag, cart with GPS, golf and buffet dinner. There are also flight prizes, raffles and door prizes. Online registration is available at www.luzerne.edu/alumni/golf.Proceeds support LCCC student scholarships.
If you can't play, you can still join us for dinner at 5pm for $50/person. In addition, we are in need of raffle prizes and sponsorships. If you can donate a prize or sponsor a hole, that would be greatly appreciated.

It is not too soon to mark your calendars for the 33rd Annual Pennsylvania History Conference, to take place on Monday, October 13 in the large auditorium of the ECC.
The topic this year is "Abolitionism in Pennsylvania" and will feature esteemed historians from LCCC and the surrounding region who will together paint a picture of Pennsylvania as a hotbed of abolitionist activity.
All are invited as the event is free and open to the public.

The HPERD Department would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who participated, contributed to or volunteered their services to our annual 5K/Fun Run on May 2. The race is sponsored by the HPE/Exercise Science Department, Class of 2025 HPE 151 Health Promotions Class and the College Wellness Committee. It was a great success again this year, because of your generosity and participation, the race raised over $1000.00 which will be going to a special fund for LCCC students with financial needs. The HPE/Exercise Science Department cannot THANK YOU enough. Your thoughtfulness and kindness, is greatly appreciated by all!
The Trailblazer Cafe will be open on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 7:30 until 10 AM with your traditional food and beverage offerings. It will be closed from 10 to 11 AM to prepare for the Finals Fest cookout.
Finals Fest will take place from 11 AM to 2 PM for a cookout of Hamburgers & Hot Dogs as well as a selection of sides. Student Life has lots of fun activities taking place at the same time.
If the weather allows, the cookout will be outside the Campus Center; otherwise it will be setup within the seating area of the Trailblazer Cafe.

The Exercise Science, Health, and Physical Education Department of Luzerne County Community College will host the 14th Annual Race for a Cause 5K Run & Fun Walk Friday, May 2 at 6:30pm on the main campus in Nanticoke. Registration will take place in the gymnasium prior to the start time. Funds will directly support LCCC students in need.

Career Services and the Northumberland (Shamokin) Center Director have teamed up to host a mini Wellness Expo & Career Fair Friday (4/25). The Expo/Fair will run from 11am to 2pm, at the Shamokin Center.
There will be employers looking to recruit students; informational tables offering resources for Addiction & Recovery, Organ & Tissue donation, Smoking Cessation, Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault, Sound Meditation, Nutrition & Wellness, Vital signs, & Financial Aid/FAFSA; as well as a make-your-own trail mix bar & smoothies, low calorie recipes, a food truck, and prizes.
Come out to learn about living a healthy lifestyle, find employment or an internship, grab a snack, and show your support for our dedicated center.
