In addition, the HiLites Motor Club will host a Trunk or Treat and Car Show from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the staff parking lot across from Building 2/Trades Center.

The 36th annual Craft Festival is this Saturday, October 18 from 10am-3pm on our Nanticoke campus. We have more than 125 quality artisans, crafters and food vendors set up for the day.

In addition there is a car show and Trunk or Treat from 11-2pm in the faculty lot across from building 3. Please join us, shop small and support our community!

If you have raffle tickets that you haven't returned yet please bring them with you that day or if you prefer feel free to drop them off at my office, room 208G in the Campus Center.

And finally, we can use a few more volunteers on Friday from 4-6pm assisting with set up and helping our vendors move in. If you already signed up for Friday or Saturday - thank you! We appreciate your support!

Registration for CEO's Annual Thanksgiving Project is open now until October 24, 2025.

CEO's Thanksgiving event is an in-person food pick-up event with three location options - Tunkhannock, Wilkes-Barre Township, and Hazleton. Participants must be Luzerne or Wyoming County residents.

Please note! Only one registration per address/unit will be accepted. If you live with another family, you MUST register together. If more than one registration is received for the same address, only the first one will be honored; any subsequent registrations will be voided.

During registration, a QR code is created. Please bring your QR code to the food distribution. In addition to this QR code, you MUST bring either photo identification or an official document or piece of mail that contains your name and address.

When someone registers over the phone, the QR code can be emailed or mailed to them. To register by phone, call: 570-825-0968 or 570-208-7017. Phone lines are open Monday through Friday, 9am-noon and 1pm-4pm

An update on the renovation projects taking place on the Main Campus:

Tuesday, October 14, 2025, contractors will be removing the fascia panels on the side of Building 11 closest to the Campus Center and will have egress on the sidewalk adjusted for the safety of all.

The contractors will also begin removing the fascia panels on the front of the James T. Atherton Gymnasium and entrance/exit will be through the side entrance next to Building 1.

The roof replacement for Building 3 will be wrapping up this week and the roof replacement for Building 7 will begin this week. They will place materials on the roof the late afternoon before the work for the next day throughout the approximate two (2) week project.

Ballast removal on Building 12 (loud process of sucking rocks off the roof on the Art Wing addition of the Technology Center) and the roof drain replacement within Building 7 will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, while there are no students on campus and staff are attending the Professional Development Program in the Educational Conference Center.

The remaining work related to the replacement of the fascia panels, cleaning of the building 4 exterior, canopies preparation and painting, and the preparation and painting of the window panels will continue.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these important campus improvements.

We want to reassure you that federal financial aid has not been impacted by the recent federal government shutdown. This means that all Federal Pell Grants, SEOG, and Direct Loans for the Fall 2025 semester were disbursed as scheduled beginning on September 30, 2025. Students receiving Veteran Education Benefits are also being certified without delay.

At this time, only state-funded programs are affected. The Pennsylvania State Grant Program and other programs administered by PHEAA are temporarily on hold until the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passes its annual budget. Once that happens, awards will be processed and disbursed as soon as possible.

We understand that delays can cause concern, but please know that our Financial Aid Office is here to support you. The 36th annual LCCC Alumni Association Craft Festival is quickly approaching on Saturday, October 18 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm on our Nanticoke campus. To comply with the Internal Revenue Service's requirements to report qualifying tuition payments and other information on Form 1098-T, the College must send a written solicitation to students with missing or invalid SSNs/ITINs on an annual basis. There are some campus infrastructure and modernization projects taking place on our Main Campus that have begun this week, and which will continue over the next few months. We will work to coordinate the building exterior projects so that there is the least amount of disruption to the College community as possible.

All work will be conducted with the safety of everyone considered first and within compliance of all regulations for the work being completed. The project includes roof replacement on five (5) building roofs - Buildings 3, 7, 11, 12, and 13; plus, ten gazebo roofs; and four (4) canopy roofs.

The removal of the existing stone fascia, abatement of asbestos containing materials, and replacement with a metal panel fascia will take place on buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11.

Additionally, approximately 500 existing blackout spandrel panels (window panel work) on Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 will be cleaned, resealed, and painted; miscellaneous minor repairs and painting of EIFS Fascia and Masonry Cleaning at Building 4; and preparing (sanding/grinding) for and painting of the four (4) canopies on campus.

In addition to having your order number ready to give to any present Bookstore staff member(Ex: 21270000026603), you must have ID on-hand to also present to a staff member.

If someone else is picking up your order on your behalf, you must email a staff member that you are giving permission to do so.

A message such as "I John Doe, give permission to Jane Doe to pick up my order of 21270000026603" will suffice. That is the only way someone else can pickup on order an your behalf.

What is OVR?

OVR stands for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Its mission is to help people with disabilities prepare for, obtain, or maintain employment.

Disabilities include anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and bipolar disorder. Other â??Hiddenâ?? or Less Visible Conditions include seizure disorders/epilepsy, chronic pain or fatigue, migraines, HIV/AIDS, and substance use disorder (in recovery).

Helpful services include:
Counseling & Guidance - Help with planning for career/college, exploring careers, making decisions about which school or program to attend, how to afford college, what accommodations you might need, etc.

Assistive Technology & Accommodations - If you have a disability, OVR can help provide or fund assistive devices (like screen readers, hearing aids, etc.), and workplace or learning adjustments.

Training, Education & Certificate Programs - funding or support for vocational, technical, or college education/training programs to help reach your employment or professional goals.

Support Services - transportation help, funding for books or supplies, reader or interpreter services, personal assistance, etc. Basically, supports that make it possible for you to attend school.

The Schulman Gallery of Luzerne County Community College is proud to present FOCUSED, an exhibition which will run from Friday, November 14, 2025 through Wednesday, December 17, 2025 and feature fine art Photographs created by NEPA and surrounding area regional photographers.
If you are a Photographer eighteen years of age or older residing in Northeastern Pennsylvania and surrounding regional area and would like your photographic artworks to be considered for inclusion in this upcoming exhibition, please visit the Schulman Gallery website at: www.luzerne.edu/schulmangallery to complete a Schulman Gallery FOCUSED Exhibition Agreement Form and submit along with up to TWO .jpg file images of original PHOTOGRAPHS via email to: schulmangallery@luzerne.edu for possible inclusion in this exhibition. The 33rd Annual Pennsylvania History Conference will take place one week from today, on Monday, October 13 in the large auditorium of the ECC from 9am to 2pm. In addition to several speakers who will present information about Pennsylvania's role in the Abolitionist Movement, we will have prizes, swag, and food!

It is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Esports Free Play day this week will be on Tuesday the 7th form 10am-2pm. Come by, have some fun, and de-stress. Be ready with your student id and your login's for steam and other game distribution software.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common viral infection primarily affecting children, characterized by fever, mouth sores, sore throat, and a rash on the hands and feet. It primarily affects children under 5 years old but can also occur in older children and adults.
HFMD spreads easily through close personal contact such as hugging or kissing an infected person, from coughs or sneezes of an infected person and touching objects or surfaces that have the virus on them, including toys and doorknobs.
To reduce the risk of contracting or spreading HFMD, wash hands thoroughly with soap and water, especially after changing diapers or using the toilet, regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and shared items, keep children away from others who are sick and avoid sharing utensils or cups.
