WHAT: A major historic announcement regarding a partnership to address the pressing teacher shortage in Pennsylvania.
WHO: Key representatives from Luzerne County Community College (LCCC), Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania (CU), and Hazleton Area School District (HASD) will be speaking.

May is recognized as Menstrual Health Awareness Month. This month aims to raise awareness about menstrual health, hygiene, and the challenges faced by those who menstruate, particularly regarding access to products and managing periods without stigma. Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed on May 28th, is key part of this awareness.
The Wellness Committee will be collecting period products during the month of May. All items will benefit our students. Monetary donations can be made to LCCC Foundation
Thursday, May 1, 2025, in the Trailblazer Cafe will have limited made to order items however a variety of grab and go items available to include - deli items, fried items, soup, and salad bar to include make your own salads.
The grill will be closed for the day.

The Exercise Science, Health, and Physical Education Department of Luzerne County Community College will host the 14th Annual Race for a Cause 5K Run & Fun Walk Friday, May 2 at 6:30pm on the main campus in Nanticoke. Registration will take place in the gymnasium prior to the start time. Funds will directly support LCCC students in need.
If you can't participate Friday, please consider stopping by the Gym to purchase raffle tickets throughout the afternoon. 15 tickets for $10, you do not need to be present to win.

Wilkes-Barre Center Open Forum: Wednesday, April 30 - 4:00pm - 5:00pm, Room 102. Come join us for our open forum. Share your ideas on how to improve the center. Open to all students, faculty and staff.

The 11th Annual Alumni Golf Tournament is set for Monday, May 19 at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club, Mountain Top.
The fee to golf is $125/player and includes lunch and refreshments, Swag Bag, cart with GPS, golf and buffet dinner. There are also flight prizes, raffles and door prizes. Online registration is available at www.luzerne.edu/alumni/golf.Proceeds support LCCC student scholarships.
If you can't play, you can still join us for dinner at 5pm for $50/person. In addition, we are in need of raffle prizes and sponsorships. If you can donate a prize or sponsor a hole, that would be greatly appreciated.

It is not too soon to mark your calendars for the 33rd Annual Pennsylvania History Conference, to take place on Monday, October 13 in the large auditorium of the ECC.
The topic this year is "Abolitionism in Pennsylvania" and will feature esteemed historians from LCCC and the surrounding region who will together paint a picture of Pennsylvania as a hotbed of abolitionist activity.
All are invited as the event is free and open to the public.

Career Services and the Northumberland (Shamokin) Center Director have teamed up to host a mini Wellness Expo & Career Fair Friday (4/25). The Expo/Fair will run from 11am to 2pm, at the Shamokin Center.
There will be employers looking to recruit students; informational tables offering resources for Addiction & Recovery, Organ & Tissue donation, Smoking Cessation, Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault, Sound Meditation, Nutrition & Wellness, Vital signs, & Financial Aid/FAFSA; as well as a make-your-own trail mix bar & smoothies, low calorie recipes, a food truck, and prizes.
Come out to learn about living a healthy lifestyle, find employment or an internship, grab a snack, and show your support for our dedicated center.

The LCCC History Club invites you to join us Thursday, Apr 24 @ 12:30pm in Room #917 for the fourth World War II lecture of the SP-25 Semester. This lecture discusses the final battles on the Eastern Front which culminates in the embattled streets of Berlin in April 1945.
Attention all students going on the ACT101 trip this Friday, April 25 to Arnold's Family Fun Center:
We will be meeting in front of the Educational Conference Center (the entrance facing S Prospect Street) at 8:30am. At that time we will get on the bus for the trip. (Bus will leave promptly at 9am). We will arrive at our destination by 11am and stay there until approximately 4pm (we are trying to stay there until 5pm so try to be flexible in your ride home time). If we are able to stay until 5pm, we will be due back on campus by 7pm. If we cannot extend our time, we will be back by 6pm. Let Cindy Malkemes or Eddy Hernandez know if you have any questions.
If you are interested in going but haven't given your $5.00 yet to secure your seat, there is still time until the end of business today.

The Luzerne County Community College Wellness Committee and HPE 151 Health Promotion, Fitness and Sport Programing class will hold its annual wellness fair today, April 22, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., in the Campus Center, Building 14, third floor.
The HPE 151 Health Promotion, Fitness and Sport Programming will perform body composition analysis. The LCCC EMS department will be demonstrating CPR, and culinary will have a display of fruit. Additional information will be provided by the PA. Dept. of Health, Victims Resource Center, Pathway to Recovery, Highway Safety, and various departments from the college.

Hours of operation are 7:30 AM until 2:30 PM Monday through Friday. Breakfast is available until 10 AM and lunch is available from 10 AM until 2:30 PM (grill closes at 2 PM daily).
Gluten free hamburger buns are available. One fryer is dedicated to only French fries.
A variety of regular breakfast, snack and lunch options are available at a reasonable price with individual items ranging in price from $1.00 to $7.00 with some salad bar items priced by weight.
Premade breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit, breakfast bars, fried appetizers, chicken tenders, fries, as well as salad bar with make your own and pre-made salad options, made-to-order sandwiches, burgers, and cheesesteaks are regular menu items. Daily made soups are also available.
Drink options include Ellis Coffee, Pepsi products â?? fountain and bottled, energy drinks, tea, Gatorade, milk, etc.

Wednesday â?? Pasta with 2 sauce options and Chicken Tortellini as the Soup of the Day

Good News! There are still spots available on the bus going to Arnolds Family Fun Center on April 25th! Students not in the ACT101 program and those in the program are able to attend for free! Check out this place. It is amazing! All you need to do to reserve your spot is to email Cindy Malkemes at cmalkemes@luzerne.edu or Eddy Hernandez at ehernandez@luzerne.edu or stop in the Counseling Offices to give us $5.00, which will reserve your spot on the bus. Hope to see you soon! The Deadline for RSVPs is end of business on April 23rd. Don't forget to bring in your 5.00!
